How To Make Alfredo Sauce From scratch
There is a story behind the sweet Alfredo sugar. Like other Italian sauces, this one is from America. They say that a man named Alfredo di Lelio created a sauce to tempt his pregnant wife to eat something different. In 1914, she cooked fettuccine into butter and Parmesan cheese to pour over it. He must have loved it as when Alfredo opened his restaurant in Rome, one of the dishes he served was Alfredo's fettuccine. It is now found in many Italian restaurants around the world.
There are several ways to make Alfredo sauce, and of course, you can use it with any type of pasta you have. It doesn't have to be fettuccine.
You will need a heavy bottom pan to make Alfredo's sauce and, of course, a wooden spoon to stir it.
Alfredo Sauce Recipe
half a cup of butter
1 pint of thick cream
4 ozs of cream cheese
1 or 2 cloves of garlic finely chopped (if you like garlic)
1 basil leaves, finely chopped
1 cup freshly brewed Parmesan cheese
salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Method:
Add the butter and fold in the cream and cream cheese. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent the sauce from burning or sticking. When the cream cheese has melted, add all the other ingredients, except the Parmesan cheese.
When the sauce is smooth and crispy, add the Parmesan cheese. Stir for about three minutes until the Parmesan is melted.
Serve hot with your favorite pasta.
Alfredo sauce is very useful, so you can try it. Pour a little boiled broccoli as one of the cheese sauce. Add the cooked chicken or bacon to the sauce, or add both. If you like open parsley, add some flavor.
You can use a different cheese, try a combination of parmesan, and your two favorites. Blue cheese can be used in this sauce with great success.
When eating out, you can use milk instead of cream, just make a white sauce and add cheese (s). If you don't have Parmesan, don't worry! You can use roasted Mozarella with minced Gruyere or strong cheddar if you like.
It is best not to use pre-made Parmesan cheese, it spoils the taste of the sauce.
Once you have successfully made this sauce, you will never want to buy a nother type. Your home cooking is excellent without additives or preservatives.
